We love our iPhones, and the release of the iPhone 4 has only stirred the fervor. Money Talks News has a list of the ten best money-saving iPhone applications. "Fortunately, the costly little gadgets can also help save you a buck," writes contributor Dan Schointuch, adding that these apps "can help you find deals, track expenses and save money."
The list (in no particular order) is:
-
Mint.com Personal Finance - free budgeting software; requires an account on their site
-
eBay Mobile - find bargains and sell your old stuff
-
Valpak Local Coupons - delivers coupons for use in your neighborhood right to your cell phone
-
Bing - take a picture of a barcode with your phone, and Bing will give you a list of stores that carry that item and their prices
-
Skype - free app lets you make and receive voice calls... without using a single minute (other party must also have Skype)
-
Groupon - this app "puts together one deal every day from local businesses" (in 40 cities nationwide). "If enough people commit to buying whatever’s on sale, then the deal is on. If not enough people commit to the deal by the end of the day, the deal is canceled and you aren’t charged."
-
Happy Hours - lets you see the best local happy hour specials (in 40 cities nationwide), and sort by features like outside dining, cuisine, & parking options
-
iBooks - enormous selection of books... absolutely free!
-
BillMinder - this app is $1 ($2 to push notifications), and will track your bills, sending you a gentle reminder and possibly preventing late fees
-
MoneyBook - this app is $5 ("...if it helps you keep track of your money, it might be worth the cost", writes Schointuch) and will track and categorize how much you spend and what you buy, so you can identify problem areas & stay on budget
