State Waives Sales and Use Tax on Certain Back-to-School Items
Alabama businesses are gearing up for what could be one of their busiest shopping weekends of the year. The seventh annual Alabama Sales Tax Holiday weekend begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2012 and ends Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 12:00 midnight.
Shoppers have the opportunity to buy certain items tax-free, all related to getting children back to school.
In some cities and counties, local sales tax may apply. Be sure to check your city and county before you head out for some non-stop shopping. We've included a partial list below, but you can find the full list at the Alabama Department of Revenue's
Sales Tax Holiday website, along with a
Quick Reference Sheet of included and excluded items that can be downloaded and printed.
