Can I See Some Identification?
This request may catch you off guard when coming from your credit union.
But if we ask for ID, it's to protect your personal financial information.

As a Coosa Pines FCU member, you can expect your account information and transactions to remain confidential.  While we're proud of the fact that we know our members, we still take precautions.

So -- especially if you call us -- don't be surprised if we ask you to identify yourself with more than your Social Security number or mother's maiden name.  We may ask for information (called "out of wallet" questions) that only you as the account holder should know.

Why do we ask?
Well, there are people -- called information brokers -- who call financial institutions to request account information under false identities or false pretenses, and then sell it to lawyers, debt collectors, private investigators or scammers.  Fraudsters may pose as a credit union member who's misplaced an account number in an attempt to gain information for defrauding the real member or taking over the account.

We're not trying to make things difficult for you.  In fact, we're doing everything possible to make things easier for you by preventing unscrupulous people from obtaining your personal account information.

Your Coosa Pines FCU funds and account information are safe with us!

Your financial safety and security is top priority!  Read our Core Values here.          Back to Fraud Protection & Alerts
